We’re looking for a Senior Designer to join our Design Team (required to be in Austin) that will help us grow our performance categories. This person will be a creative force bringing swim, sport, and golf categories to life in a way that only Chubbies can. The ideal candidate will push products forward bringing quality, excitement and joy to the customer in every purchase.

You are responsible for articulating the look of the Chubbies brand throughout our product assortment. You will be able to make our apparel irresistible to our customers while also conveying the fun, light-hearted, positive, weekend-centric ethos and aesthetic we've been working on since 2011.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shop and research men’s marketplace from runway to our competitors for inspiration and opportunities in product, fabric, construction, color and trims
• Work with apparel and surface design teams to identify and forecast fashion and cultural trends each season
• Translate market trends into seasonal concepts that support the strategy for the business
• Develop seasonal styles, fabrications and trims in partnership with the Sourcing Team
• Partner with Surface Design team to curate seasonal pattern work
• Collaborate with Design teammates to create impactful visual materials for presentations and line review meetings
• Attend weekly cross functional meetings
• Lead category design reviews with senior design and cross functional partners
• Create technical and supporting sketches for all styles to be developed
• Collaborate with with Technical design to ensure fit intent is executed throughout the prototyping process
• Communicate edits and changes to styles across cross functional team
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all design materials
• Partner with Product Development and Sourcing to identify and create new and innovative materials and trims
• Mentor and guide junior designers in understanding design principles, methodologies, and industry best practices.
• Lead by example through demonstrating advanced design techniques and problem-solving approaches.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in men’s apparel design
• Bachelor of Science or Art in a related field (Fashion, clothing, or related)
• Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in Microsoft and Google office software
• Management experience with both full time and freelance designers
• Experience managing 1 or more direct reports
• Creative outside the box approach to problem solving
• Strength in communication both cross functionally and with international factories
• Willingness to travel
